Deep Creek house with Fire Pit

Bryson City, NC, United States

6 guests
3 bedrooms
1 bathroom

Most nights end at the fire pit. A house in a quiet Bryson City neighborhood, about 10 minutes from Deep Creek trailhead in the national park, 7 from downtown, and 15 from Cherokee. A big yard with a playground, three bedrooms, comfortable beds, and a kitchen set up for real cooking. On summer nights, the fireflies in the backyard are worth the trip on their own.

Good to know

The house sits on a quiet residential road with a paved driveway right off the street. Flat, easy access, no mountain switchbacks. Inside, the living room has comfy furniture and a TV. The kitchen is big enough for everyone to eat together, with a stove, oven, full-size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and a Keurig. It's stocked for real cooking, not just reheating. Three bedrooms: two with king beds and one with a queen. A washer and dryer are in the house, which earns its keep after days at Deep Creek or on the river. There's no dedicated desk, but the dining table works for laptops if you need to check in on something. There is one centrally located bathroom, so groups may want to plan around showers and mornings. Out back, a wood-burning fire pit with chairs, a playground set, a hammock, and enough open space that kids can run while adults sit and watch. Firewood bundles are available at the IGA grocery store a few minutes away. Grab some marshmallows while you're there. On summer nights, the fireflies in the yard are something else. Drive times from the house: - Deep Creek Trailhead (national park): about 10 minutes - Downtown Bryson City: about 7 minutes - Great Smoky Mountain Railway / Polar Express depot: about 7 minutes - Cherokee: about 15 minutes - Harrah's Cherokee Casino: about 15 minutes - Nantahala Outdoor Center: about 20 minutes

Other Details to Note

Fire Pit: The fire pit is wood-burning and available when local burn rules allow. Bundles are available at the IGA grocery store a few minutes away. ‎ Fireplace: The fireplace in the bedroom does not work. Please do not attempt to use it. ‎ The Yard: The backyard is open and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Good for the yard, play set, and evening fires, but this is a neighborhood setting, not a secluded mountain cabin. ‎ Access: There are a few steps at the front door and back deck. One bedroom has a step down. Once inside, the house is one level. ‎ Internet: The house has Starlink wifi. Cell service is weak, so we recommend connecting to wifi and enabling wifi calling on arrival. If a reliable connection is critical for remote work, a personal hotspot is a good backup. Bathroom: The house has one centrally located bathroom. Groups of 4-6 may want a loose morning schedule.

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Bryson City is a small mountain town along the Tuckasegee River with a walkable downtown. A handful of breweries, a chocolate shop, local restaurants, and the kind of shops that are more interesting than generic tourist stops. The Great Smoky Mountain Railway depot is downtown, and during Polar Express season (November and December) the whole town leans into it. Deep Creek is the closest entry into Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with three waterfalls on an easy loop trail and summer tubing right from the trailhead. Cherokee is about 15 minutes in the other direction, with the casino, Oconaluftee Visitor Center, and elk viewing along the river. The house is on a quiet road between downtown and the park. The name "Galbraith Creek" comes from the road, not the view. The creek itself is farther up the road and isn't visible or accessible from the property. On clear nights, it still gets dark enough to see the stars.

Very cozy and comfortable house for a family of four. We enjoyed being so close to the restaurants and cafes in Bryson City and easy access to the Great Smokies! Brenda was very responsive when we had an issue, which was fixed immediately.

Everything was perfect for a little getaway to celebrate a birthday with the family. Brenda was very nice and helpful. We admired some of the art and she sent me a link to similar pieces. Extra care!!
