Spacious 3BR, 10 min to Cherokee Casino
Cherokee, NC, United States
The first Airbnb on the Cherokee Reservation, and the house I grew up in. A 3-bedroom home 10 minutes from Harrah's Cherokee Casino, 11 from the national park, and 16 from Bryson City. No NC occupancy tax on your stay. Everything you need is on the ground floor: a bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, and a dining room with windows looking out at the trees. Upstairs has two more bedrooms, bathroom, and office area. The front deck faces the mountains for relaxing evenings under the string lights.
Good to know
The paved driveway leads up to a carport with covered parking. A few steps up from the carport and you're on the ground floor, where you'll find a bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen, and dining room all on one level. The living room has comfortable seating and a wall-mounted TV. The kitchen is set up for real cooking: two ovens (one convection, one traditional), stainless steel appliances, and enough counter space and seating at both the dining table and bar for everyone to eat together. The dining room sits just off the kitchen, with big windows on two sides looking out at the trees and warm light from a wood-paneled ceiling. Upstairs: a king bedroom and a queen bedroom. Downstairs: a queen bedroom with a handcrafted log bed frame, plus a sitting area with books, board games, and a desk if you need a workspace. The front deck faces toward the mountains with a gas fire table. The yard is private, and on summer nights, the fireflies are worth the trip on their own. Most guests use the house as a home base for Cherokee, Bryson City, and the national park. Explore during the day, end up back on the deck every evening.
Other Details to Note
The driveway has a moderate incline. During snow or ice, we recommend parking at the base and walking the short distance up. During summer, one of the upstairs bedrooms can take longer to cool down. Set the thermostat to your target temperature earlier in the day to give the AC time to catch up. The fireplace is decorative only and should not be used. For directions, use Google Maps rather than Apple Maps. Apple Maps has trouble with the final stretch. We also send detailed check-in directions and a Google Maps link. This is a rural neighborhood. You may occasionally hear dogs barking or see a neighbor's dog wander through the yard.
